After inserting the cervical cap on top of the uterus, it works by preventing sperms from joining the egg in the uterus. If spermicide is used with it, which works better, it also kills the sperms along with it.
The cervical cap is about 86% effective. It works better if placed properly and placed every time before intercourse occurs. The biggest thing on ho it would be most effective is just properly placing the cap over the cervix.
Some possible side effects when it comes to cervical caps is vaginal irritation and bladder infections. Also, if it is used with spermicide, it can increase your chance of getting STDs.
